What if... you take photography principles and apply in face care?

What if... you take photography principles and apply in face care?

Last week, I saw a beautifully photographed ad on Instagram and within the next 2 minutes I ordered the products. It was of Salt oral care. Their packaging of products was good and I think what happened in face-care with Minimalist or The Ordinary needed to happen in oral care as well. Salt might be that change.

Anyway. I noted three things down — photography, face care, and oral care. And wondered… what can I pick from basic photography field and apply in face care?… and a few things came up.

Stupid simple things can happen:

  1. Camera's aperture adjusts. What if there's a face cream that automatically adjusts its formula based on skin moisture levels?

  2. In film cameras, photos develop. A sunscreen with light-sensitive packaging that "develops" when exposed to light to indicate properties of the product effects inside.

  3. In film cameras, photos develop. A facial mask that changes colour based on how much oil is absorbed. Becomes a great visual feedback.

  4. Flash in cameras. A diagnosis mask that reveals areas on the face needing deeper cleansing.

  5. Photography on social media. Face masks wrapped in bold, fun, eye-popping packaging that practically begs you to post it on Instagram. We’re talking stickers, snappy slogans, and all the right vibes.

  6. Nature photography. Forest fragrances for the monsoons.

  7. Point and shoot phone photography. Easy-squeeze tubes; easy to carry everywhere.

  8. Soft lighting: A facial oil that mimics the soft lighting used in photography, giving skin a radiant, “soft-focus” glow.

If you're in beauty business, think about these!

I'll keep sharing similar quirky, weird ideas that I picked up from various things around on my Medium blog. Follow me on Medium or on Twitter to follow along this journey!
