1. The typical tea-cup handle
It's just too small to put any normal human finger in. I never bothered buying a set and the only ones that are in the house are gifts from relatives who think that's the best gift for married couples. Thankfully, Nandini creates supremely ergonomic mugs and cups that are easy to hold and drink tea or coffee from.
2. The handle of a backpack
What kind of sick person designs such a thin grab handle for a big-ass backpack. Not only does it not fit the grab properly, but it also puts a lot of pressure on the fingers if you're trying to lift with the bag full. Bag designers out there, please fix this for good. It makes absolutely no sense.
3. AC remote buttons
At best, I have used the temperature +/- buttons or the power button. Everything else becomes utterly useless at night, or any other time when you're trying to manage the temperature of the room.
4. Drill kit
I have bought 5 drill-kits in my lifetime. A common problem in all are no dedicated cavity for the plug wire so it's always a hassle to fit it back and close the box. The holder cavities are also very flimsy and clearly show cost-cutting. Most bits and attachments are sharp so one has to be careful to pull them out or put them back in. All in all, they are always in a messy state and we make our peace with it.
Over the last few years I have become intolerant towards using apps and objects that are poorly built. I think the world deserves to use good apps that are thoughtfully designed and built. Same for physical products, be it a water bottle, a fitness tracker, file management folders or an expensive gadget. They all need to be great and people are willing to spend more for better experiences given the majority of stuff out there suck.
I'll will keep documenting my observations and solutions to some of them regularly on this blog. Next time I write about this subject, I'll try to cover at least 50 things (physical & digital).
Thanks for reading.
