I’ve been using a fitness wearable (Apple Watch, Xiaomi bands, Ultrahuman ring..) since 2018. While they do the job, I always found them to be boring.
With so much tech these gadgets have, I wish the devices, and their apps would become way more exciting than the vanilla UI of progress bars, numbers and charts!
Last Sunday when I was cleaning the study room, I spotted My Gita by Devdutt Pattanaik. It was recommended by a colleague and I’m yet to pick it up. Anyway… I thought ancient epics and life in general have a lot of drama and excitement! But, fitness wearable or even their apps are as boring as they can get.
No one seems to be doing anything dramatically different!
What if…
Every day, your daily steps count becomes a trigger to reveals a scene from Ramayana or Mahabharata. Every 10K steps reveal a like scenes from the Ramayana or Mahabharata, with each movement transformed into part of your epic story.
The smart watch syncs with Indian seasons and adjusts your fitness regime based on ancient seasonal health guidelines — like cooling exercises in summer when you are trying to select a workout type for the day.
Meditation app that guides you with sound healing from ancient Indian instruments like the sitar and tabla. Relax like a yogi with ancient vibes in your ears.
The fitness band tracks your pulse throughout the day according to Ayurvedic principles, analysing stress levels and recommending herbal remedies or breathing exercises proactively.
Your fitness band/watch plays ancient mantras or chants as you progress through yoga poses, turning your morning routine into a sacred practice.
Your smart watch doesn’t just buzz with every fitness activity. It builds up your notifications like a short thriller story over the day. Each notification adds suspense and you’re waiting to hear the climax by the end of the day. Think ‘Terrible Tiny Tales’.
During an active workout session, your band/watch isn’t silent — it’s loud. It plays dramatic, high-energy sound effects when you finish an intense set of push-ups or plays a grand, dramatic sound when you’ve finished an hour of workout!
Instead of the boring ring completion, progress bars, your fitness tracker reports your daily workout as a narrative, inspired by Indian epics. Walked 10,000 steps? You’ve walked from Ayodhya to the jungle! In the app, you’re exploring the ancient city’s various regions.
I’d really want to use a fun fitness band/ watch/ app like this!
